The Future Forests Initiative builds markets for wood products sourced from forest restoration and helps sustainable building firms realize the full potential of intentional wood sourcing.

The focus of restoration forestry is to reestablish ecosystem functions by modifying or managing

the composition, structure, and spatial arrangement of trees within the forest.

Restoration creates and maintains healthy, resilient forests capable of delivering clean air and water, carbon sequestration, habitat for native fish and wildlife, and forest products.

When we restore our nation’s forests, we create jobs in rural communities and benefit the environment at the same time.

The Future Forests Initiative is led by Sustainable Northwest.
